The NBA season has officially tipped off, but there is still time to place wagers on outrights, like who will be the NBA’s Rookie of the Year!

First overall selection Zion Williamson may be the popular choice to win the Rookie of the Year, but the odds may not be in his favor. According to SportsBetting, Williamson has the second-best odds at winning the Rookie of the Year this season.

He is currently listed at +300, even though earlier in the year Williamson was a top selection to win the prestigious award.

SportsBetting LogoJa Morant was selected second overall in the NBA Draft behind Williamson. Early in the season, he currently has the best odds to win Rookie of the Year. Morant is listed at +200 and had a respectable debut with the Memphis Grizzlies.

Morant dropped 14 points in his season opener but the Grizzlies would lose to the Miami Heat, 120-101.

Williamson’s Pelicans and Morant’s Grizzlies are scheduled to meet four times this season, with their first meeting taking place in January. The two franchises also have a home-and-home series in March.

One main reason Morant is the favorite to win is due to Williamson’s injury. Zion is expected to miss the next six-to-eight weeks thanks to a right knee injury that required arthroscopic surgery. We should see him return to the lineup around December.

Once Williamson makes his official NBA regular-season debut, can he turn heads and take ROY away from Morant, or will too much time have passed for Williamson to build a legitimate case?
