Can the Cardinals Keep Running the Table Against the Houston Astros?

July 28, 2019

Image result for Harrison Bader

Before the All-Star game, the St. Louis Cardinals were a team fighting for a playoff spot, but not a threat to the division. The Cardinals may have been a playoff team, but their route to October baseball would be through the Wild Card.

Well, after winning their last six games and going 9-1 in their last 10, the Cardinals are now atop the NL Central with a 56-47 record.

Later this evening, the Cardinals will look to continue their impressive streak when they face the mighty Houston Astros of the AL West. Houston are 7-3 in their last 10 and have a commanding 8 game lead over second-place Oakland in their division.

5Dimes LogoTasked with spoiling the Cardinals’ post-All-Star break run will be RHP Gerrit Cole. Cole enters tonight owning a record of 11-5 on the bump with a 3.03 ERA. Cole also leads the Majors with 205 strikeouts and is the leader in strikeouts per nine innings (13.5).

Daniel Ponce de Leon will get the start for St. Louis. He is 1-0 this season with a 2.82 ERA. He hasn’t been able to go the distance in recent games, so it will be interesting to see if Houston’s hitters will chase Ponce de Leon from the game early.

Houston certainly has sluggers on their team. Yuli Gurriel leads the team with 65 RBI on the season, while Alex Bregman is the team leader in Home Runs with 26. Overall, the Astros have 9 hitters with 10 or more Home Runs and 13 hitters with 20 or more RBI.

Paul Goldschmidt has picked up production for the Cardinals. The former Arizona first-baseman has set St. Louis on fire with his recent stretch. He leads the Cardinals with 23 Home Runs and is second on the team with 56 RBI.

Can Anyone Stop Alabama & Clemson in NCAA Football Action?

July 23, 2019

Nick Saban

Even though summer is heating up, the thought of a national championship come January is on the mind of football coaches. School will soon be in session, which means NCAA football programs will once again have the opportunity to compete for a national championship.

The past four national championships have been shared by two football powerhouses. The Clemson Tigers won in 2018 and 2016 while the Alabama Crimson Tide won in 2017 and 2015. Of course, bookies believe these teams will be a threat to potentially win the title again and have a tremendous season in the process.

2020 NCAAF Championship Odds※ Current Odds Date & Time: July 22nd, 7:00 P.M. (EST)

Online bookmaker SportsBetting has both Clemson and Alabama priced at +225 to win the college football playoff (CFP).

Dabo Sweeney

SportsBetting LogoFor the Crimson Tide, their O/U regular-season win total is set at 11. The last time Alabama finished the regular season with less than 11 wins was in 2010. And the only time the Crimson Tide have finished the season with less than double-digit wins under Saban was 2007 (7-6).

As for Clemson, their O/U regular-season wim total is set at 11½. In 2014, Clemson finished the season with 10 wins but have since gone on to capture 12 or more wins each and every season after.

Of course, these two teams will also be favorites to win the title in 2019. Bama will look to continue their incredible run of participating in four straight NCAA Championships. They could make it five straight if they reach the playoff finals in 2019.

Clemson Tigers

Clemson on the other hand has made it to the football playoff championship game three of the past four years. Their current run of dominance in the NCAA hasn’t been matched in program history.

These two programs are the teams to beat in 2019 according to bookmaker SportsBetting. Will that hold when teams hit the gridiron in August?

Keith Thurman Looks to Derail Manny Pacquiao in Upcoming Bout

July 16, 2019

Manny Pacquiao & Keith Thurman

Manny Pacquiao will go down as one of the greatest ever to step in the ring. As a 40-year-old, he’s hoping to not be a stepping stone for younger fighters when they go toe-to-toe.

In the upcoming fight against undefeated American Keith Thurman, Pacquiao will look to keep his hot streak going. After losing to Floyd Mayweather, Pacquiao has won four of his last five fights.

Manny Pacquiao vs. Keith Thurman Odds※ Current Odds Date & Time: July 15th, 9:00 p.m. (EST)

Online bookmaker SportsBetting has Pacquiao at -145 for the upcoming bout.

Keith Thurman

Thurman enters this bout with a record of 29-0-1. He is no doubt a dominant force in the sport but lost two years of his career due to a car accident that sidelined him.

SportsBetting LogoThurman will hope to execute a game plan in which he uses his size and strength as an advantage. His jab will be able to keep Pacquiao at a distance. Pacquiao dropped a decision because his opponent was able to use their size to their advantage. If Thurman manages to do so in the upcoming fight, Manny won’t have an answer.

Manny Pacquiao

Pacquiao is experienced in fighting younger opponents. His four wins since losing to Mayweather all came against younger opponents. If Manny can slip inside and land hard punches, eliminating Thurman’s ability to get fully extended, this could be the difference-maker in a Pacquaio victory.

Even boxing legends are split as to who will walk away victorious. Roy Jones Jr. likes Pacquiao due to his experience, while Sugar Ray Leonard likes the talent, power and speed of Thurman.

One of these legends will be proven right when the two boxers step in the ring. Will Thurman be able to defeat Pacquiao and launch his career into the stratosphere?

Is the 2020 NBA Title for a LA Team to Lose?

July 09, 2019

Toronto Raptors

The NBA landscape has certainly changed with recent signings, trades, and the NBA draft. Although the Toronto Raptors are still celebrating taking home the Larry O’Brien trophy, they are seeing first hand how winning a championship isn’t enough to keep franchise players in their city.

The future of the NBA seems to have shifted into dynamic duos rather than superteams. With the recent signings of Kevin Durant, Kawhi Leonard and other notable stars, the NBA title is no guarantee for any team next season.

NBA Championship Odds
※ Current Odds Date & Time: July 8th, 10:30 p.m. (EST)

Online bookmaker SportsBetting has the Clippers at +300 to win the NBA Championship.

Kawhi Leonard & Paul George

SportsBetting LogoThe LA Clippers arguably made the biggest splash of the off-season, signing free agent Kawhi Leonard from the Toronto Raptors. The Clippers improved their odds at winning the NBA title by acquiring Paul George from the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Clippers are listed at +300 to win the NBA title.

The Staples Center will be filled with loads of talent this season. Alongside LeBron James you have an all-star in Anthony Davis. Many believed the Lakers would land Leonard to create a superteam of superteams, but that obviously fell through. The Lakers are listed at +400.

Lebron James & Anthony Davis

As for the defending NBA Champions, the odds are not in their favor to repeat in the upcoming season. Granted, the odds were not in favor of Toronto to win the NBA title either, but this season will certainly be different. Toronto is listed at +2000, which matches the odds of the Boston Celtics and Brooklyn Nets.

Other notable teams to compete for the NBA title this season will be the Milwaukee Bucks (+500), Philadelphia 76ers (+800), Denver Nuggets (+1400), Golden State Warriors (+1400) and Houston Rockets (+1400).

For the first time in what seems forever, the NBA title is no guarantee making this season definitely one to watch.

July 03, 2019

Brooks Koepka

The fourth and final PGA Major is just around the corner. The top golfers of 2019 will look to capture the Open Championship, which is set to take place at Dunluce in Northern Ireland.

The Dunluce links are being credited as one of the most challenging courses in the world and will turn boys into men during the tournament. In order to win this major, you’re going to need an excellent day on this course.

2019 British Open Winner Odds
※ Current Odds Date & Time: July 2nd, 9:00 p.m. (EST)

Online bookmaker SportsBetting has Brooks Koepka and Rory McIlroy listed at +800 to win the Open.

Rory McIlroy

2019 has seen three Americans win the first three Majors of this season. If an American were to win the Open, it would be the first time the country has swept all four Majors since 1982.

SportsBetting LogoIt’s no surprise that Brooks Koepka and Rory McIlroy have been given the best odds to win the tournament. Koepka won the PGA Championship already this year and has dominated the Majors in recent years although he is still searching for his first Open Championship. For McIlroy, he is searching for his first Major win since 2014. Even though he has yet to win a Major this year, Rory claimed the Players Championship back in March and also won the RBC Canadian Open in June.

Tiger Woods

Other names to keep an eye on will be Tiger Woods, Dustin Johnson and Justin Rose.

Italian Francesco Molinari is listed at +1800. He won the Open last season, which was also the first Major championship of his career.

Francesco Molinari

Jordan Spieth, Rickie Fowler and Jon Rahm are down the list but hopefuls at winning the upcoming Open.

Get ready for an exciting weekend of golf as the best in the game try to drive and putt their way to glory on Northern Ireland soil.
