MrQ Snooker Masters 2024: Trump Looks to Assert Dominance in London

The best of the best in snooker don’t get much of a break in the new year, as it’s straight into one of the biggest tournaments of the season this weekend. The MrQ Masters sees the best 16 players in the world go toe to toe in a prestigious invitational event, with £725,000 on the line and plenty of pride as well.

Trump comes to London as the defending champion, having picked up title in 2019 and 2023 here. However, snooker GOAT Ronnie O’Sullivan is lurking in the background chasing his eighth Masters title, while the trifecta of Marks are also looking threatening. Who will come out on top in snookers big bach this week?

ウィリアムヒルWe break down all the latest odds from bookmaker William Hill and outline all the best bets to make on the MrQ Snooker Masters 2024 ahead of the first break this Sunday.

Current Odds Date & Time: January 6th, 7:00 A.M. (GMT)

Defending champion Judd Trump holds a narrow lead in the odds, sitting just ahead of seven-time champion Ronnie O’Sullivan. Bookmaker William Hill has the pair at 4.50 and 5.00 respectively, while Mark Selby straddles the gap between these two and the rest of the field at 7.50. A big drop off occurs to the fourth and fifth favourites, with Mark Allen returning 13.00 and Shaun Murphy coming in at 15.00.

Odds to make the final are similar, with Trump at 3.00 through to Murphy who pays 7.50 to make a deep run in London.

Determining a winner here is a challenging task, given how tight the field is in 2024 and how mercurial some of the favourites are. There’s a strong argument, however, for wagering that this event will bring the best out of Ronnie O’Sullivan. The Englishman has had his fair share of struggle the past year, withdrawing from multiple events due to mental health issues.

With a bit of a Christmas break plus the motivation of an eighth title, there’s every chance we’ll see O’Sullivan bring his best at the Masters this year. Remember that just recently he went all the way and won the 2023 UK Championship, so it’s not like he’s in anything resembling bad form.

This is a reasonably risky bet for a return of 5.00, so we suggest having a look at some of the other odds as well. Mark William is returning a very healthy 9.00 to make the final, coming into this tournament off the back of a big win in Macau. The Welshman defeated Judd Trump and edged out Jack Lisowski in the final.

Should Williams win his opening encounter in London, he’ll get another crack at Trump in the second round. There’s no reason to believe he’s not capable of winning again, having done so recently. Do so, and he’s just once match away from making the final and a 9.00 pay out.
