WST: 2023 UK Championship | Judd Trump and Mark Allen Favoured in York

Snooker fans are waiting in readiness for the 2023 UK Snooker Championship tournament to unfold on November 25. The tournament is scheduled to run from November 25th to December 3rd and will take place at the York Barbican venue in York, England. Organised and sponsored by World Snooker Tour and Online Casino MrQ respectively, the BBC and Eurosport will be broadcasting the event domestically.

Mark Allen is currently the defending champion, who knocked over Ding Junhui of China by a score line of 10-7 in the 2022 UK Championship final. Previously, only UK residents and passport holders were eligible to partake in this competition. But in the 1984 UK Championship event, new measures were introduced in place that allowed overseas talent to jump in and make a strong name for themselves. The winner of the 2023 UK Championship tournament will be entitled to receive a whopping £250,000 from a total prize fund of £1,205,000.

Current Odds Date & Time: November 24th, 1:00 A.M. (GMT)

Without a doubt, Judd Trump appears to be the most likely candidate to achieve an outright win with odds of 5.00. Trump has topped the charts in the past one year and currently ranks second in the WST rankings. He has delivered some crushing performances of late, one of which includes his clinical win of 6-3 against Barry Hawkins in the semi-final of Champions of Champions.

Second to him is Ronnie O’Sullivan who is marginally behind with odds of 5.50. At present, he is the No. 1 ranked player in the world and has been at his best during the quarter-final rounds. Mark Selby of England is at 6.00 and has a reputation for being a fierce competitor. The Englishman ranks fifth and shares a close rivalry with Judd Trump who has had the upper hand over him on a few occasions.

With odds at 11.00, Mark Allen looks like a less probable candidate to finish on a high. Still, after coming off from an emphatic win against Judd Trump in the Champions of Champions final, the Irishman can certainly turn some heads around. Whereas Neil Robertson and John Higgins have slipped down the rankings after putting on a myriad of average performances sitting at odds of 13.00.

In terms of the best bets to make on this event, it’s hard to get past Trump continuing his hot streak in the second half of 2023. He’s been by far the most consistent player on tour, winning three in a row across the Northern Ireland Open, Wuhan Open and English Open, before finishing runner up at the Champion of Champions last week. With a return of 5.00, Trump winning will still be a lucrative wager and it’s the one we suggest heading into this weekend.
