Has there been a more tumultuous Championship League event in the history of snooker? First, top favourites Ronnie O’Sullivan and Neil Robertson withdrew from the event moments before the first break. Then, a wave of underdog performances sees plenty of the top 20 fail to move through the first stage.
Now, a strong Chinese contingent plus some downright lucky shots have seen the Stage Two favourites, Judd Trump and Kyren Wilson, both fail to make it to the final day. With less than 24 hours remaining in the Championship League Snooker 2023, we look at how the field is placed, and what the best bets are to make heading into the final day in Leicester with all the latest odds from bookmaker William Hill.

And then there were eight. With a field that began 128 strong, only eight men remain to be bet on heading into Stage Three of the Championship League Snooker 2023. Mark Williams and Shaun Murphy are the firm favourites in the odds at bookmaker William Hill, with a pay out of 4.00 if either man wins the title. Following these two, in-form Chinese player Cao Yupeng is the third favourite at 6.50, before Noppon Saengkham and Robert Milkins round out the top five betting favourites with a return of 7.50 and 8.00 respectively.
As the betting odds indicate, Mark Williams and Shaun Murphy are the strong favourites to take down the title tomorrow. Courtesy of the abundant upsets over the past few weeks, Williams and Murphy are the only remaining top 10 players in the Championship League Snooker 2023. Robert Milkins isn’t far off at No. 13 in the world, but the remaining five are all lower ranked and simply riding great form at the Morningside Arena.
Our recommendation is doubling down on a bet for Shaun Murphy to win on Friday, if you don’t already have a wager in behind the Englishman. World No. 7 Murphy has been clinical so far, winning Group 4 with three wins from three matches to make the second stage before navigating this Stage Two group unbeaten as well.
Add this strong form to the fact that Murphy is one of the more experienced players remaining and the 40-year-old is an excellent bet to go all the way in Leicester. The player already has two big titles this year with the Players Championship and Tour Championship to his name so far—it’s not at all unlikely that he makes it three by the end of this week.
