We’re a week into the NFL season and we’ve already seen some upsets. Sunday night, division rivals Philadelphia Eagles will take on their bird-brothers, the Atlanta Falcons.
The Eagles opened their season with a comeback win over the Washington Redskins. Meanwhile, the Falcons were handled by the Minnesota Vikings.
Carson Wentz got off to a hot start in week 1. Wentz tossed 3 touchdown passes en route to the victory. His performance (and the Eagles’ 32 points scored) have Philadelphia ranked 6th in the NFL in points scored after one week.

For the Falcons to walk away with a victory, their offense will need to pick it up. After scoring just 12 points in week 1, it will be interesting to see if their week 1 performance was an anomaly after week 2.
According to Football Database, the Eagles own the Falcons through their entire history. The Eagles are 20-14-1 against Atlanta, which dates back to 1966.
Looking back at week 1, Matt Ryan matched his two touchdown passes with two interceptions. For the Falcons to win this game, they will need a better performance from everyone. As for the Eagles, they cannot afford to start slow as they did in week 1 against Washington.
It’s no surprise that the Eagles are the favorites in this one, listed at -120. Philadelphia is the stronger team on paper, but that doesn’t always translate to the field. Atlanta has players like Devonta Freeman who could take over a game and secure a win for the Falcons.
