City have had a fabulous campaign and head into the clash with 35 wins in their last 40 matches. Pep Guardiola’s men have picked apart almost everyone on their way, but their seldom defeats include a pair of meetings with Chelsea. The Blues won 1-0 in a FA Cup semi-final and 2-1 in a road outing in the league.

Nobody has managed to match Guardiola tactically since he arrived in England, but Thomas Tuchel has impressed with his work in London and it looks like the tables have turned in the matchup after the German failed to win any of his first five meetings with Guardiola.

Tuchel will aim to make up for last year’s defeat in the final when his PSG side suffered a 1-0 loss against Bayern Munich. He’s chasing his first Champions League win while Guardiola is going after his third. The Spaniard has a chance to join Bob Paisley, Carlo Ancelotti and Zinedine Zidane as the only managers to win the Champions League/European Champions Cup three times.

Both managers have fully fit squads to choose from, which will make their team selections very interesting. Sergio Agüero is on his way out of the club, but will Guardiola give him one final chance to shine? He has scored by far the most Champions League goals for the team with 36.

Phil Foden, who has three goals and three assists in the Champions League this season, will be eager to mark his 21st birthday with a big performance and there are plenty of other match-winners in the City squad as well.

Chelsea have lacked a cutting edge upfront throughout the campaign, but could this be the game where Timo Werner finally announces his arrival at the club? He was very unlucky in his final Premier League games of the season so it seems like the German is due for a goal. A winning goal in the Champions League final would certainly make up for all the chances he’s missed throughout his debut campaign.
