World Champion Australia Takes on World No. 1 India in a Three-Match T20I Series

Just one month before the mega event, i.e The ICC T20 World Cup, fans will witness a cricket spectacle like no other when the number one ranked T20I team in India faces the reigning T20 champion in Australia in an exciting three-match series that will begin on Tuesday, the 20th of September. The series will be played in India and this will serve as the perfect opportunity for both teams to finalize their playing XI ahead of the T20 World Cup next month.

India is coming off from a poor showing at the Asia Cup where they could not retain their title as they bowed out in the Super 4 stage. Captain Rohit Sharma lost his first international series since becoming India’s full-time captain. The Men in Blue will be keen to get back on track and gain some momentum ahead of the all-important event.

He was India’s leading run scorer in the Asia Cup and it is no surprise that he is booked to be one of the top run scorers in the first T20I with the odds of 3.60 with bookmaker 888sport. Captain Rohit Sharma and vice-captain KL Rahul also have the odds of 3.60.

Ahead of the series, the Indian team received a major boost as their two frontline pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel returned to the squad after recovering from injury that ruled them out of the Asia Cup. Veteran pacer Umesh Yadav also makes his return to the white-ball squad after nearly three years as pacer Mohammed Shami tested positive for Covid-19.

On the other hand, despite resting some key players, Australia has announced a strong squad where their Test skipper Pat Cummins makes a return to the side after missing out on nearly three months of cricket. The Australian selectors have also included world-renowned power-hitter Tim David, who finally received his maiden call-up for Australia after performing in all global T20 leagues.

Former Australian captain Steven Smith has an exceptional record against India in international cricket. Hence, he is rightly booked to be one of the top run scorers for Australia in the 1st game with the odds of 3.60 with bookmaker 888sport. Australian captain Aaron Finch and Glenn Maxwell are just behind him with the odds of 3.75 and 4.10 respectively.
