Bookmaker bet365 has a clear favourite ahead of this title fight and it’s Janibek Alimkhanuly. The WBO middleweight champion is paying just 1.083 for an outright win on Saturday night, meaning the bookies are more than 90 percent confident he’ll win. For Vincenzo Gualtieri, his odds are far less optimistic at 8.00 to win.
Looking at the method of victory odds, chances are this one ends in a Alimkhanuly knockout, with this result paying the lowest at 1.44. The Kazakh winning by decision pays 3.50, while Gualtieri’s best odds are for the judges to score this one his way, with a decision the German’s way returning 12.00. Bookies aren’t giving him much chance of winning by knockout however, as this pays the same as a draw at 21.00.

It’s clear from these odds that Alimkhanuly is the strong favourite here and for good reason. The Kazakh was a force to be reckoned with as an amateur, winning the 2013 World Championships and making the quarter-finals of the Olympics three years later. He’s unbeaten since turning professional and the fact that he’s been fast tracked to the top simply speaks to his caliber as a boxer.
We say the obvious happens here and Alimkhanuly knocks out Gualtieri. While the German has done well to remain unbeaten across his 22 professional fights, the reality is these have been lower level domestic clashes, one of which finished in a draw. Fighting a boxer like Alimkhanuly in the United States is a completely different kettle of fish, and while it’s valiant that Gualtieri is up for it, this will be as far as he gets in terms of his reign as the IBF middleweight champion.
