Amanda Nunes and Irene Aldana headline at UFC 289 this weekend with the two women contesting the UFC Bantamweight Championship in Vancouver. With Nunes heading into this bout as the current belt holder and Aldana the underdog challenger, this should be a fascinating contest on Saturday night.

ウィリアムヒルOver the past decade, Amanda Nunes has built an impressive 15-2 track record in the UFC. Her opponent, Irene Aldana, has not reached such a high level, already losing four times in her 11 fights. However, with Aldana possessing some dangerous strike power, the veteran cannot afford to rest on her laurels. There’s a clear favourite at bookmaker William Hill heading into this fight and it’s not the challenger. Current bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes is paying 1.30 for the win here, well ahead of Irene Aldana’s 3.50. The Brazilian is paying low odds for a finish at only 1.61 for a win by either KO or submission while her chances of a points victory are also relatively strong at 3.75. If Aldana is to win this one, the bookies say it will most likely be with a finish as well, at 5.50.

In 2021, Amanda Nunes lost for the first time in almost eight years. Between 2014 and 2021, the 35-year-old had gone on a dominant 12-fight winning streak, taking names such as Ronda Roussey, Valentina Shevchenko and Holly Holm. Some were concerned that the loss indicated Father Time had finally caught up to the veteran. However, just six months later, Nunes stepped into the ring with her nemesis Julianna Pena and gained her revenge with an impressive decision victory.

Now, she’s looking to build another winning spree against Irene Aldana and it’s hard to see the Mexican stopping her.

UFC 289: Nunes vs. Aldana

Nunes is a strong fighter across the board, but she loves to trade blows and land knockouts. Almost half of her fights have ended with the Brazilian knocking her opponent out while another 20% have led to a submission. Considering that Aldana hasn’t regularly fought the same caliber of women that Nunes is used to, and when she has, it’s usually ended in a defeat, we say the best bet here is to back Nunes for a knockout win.

To be conservative, this can be combined with a submission win for 1.61 odds. Or, the more lucrative option is to wager on which round the knockout will occur. We recommend betting on a first round knockout for a healthy 4.50 return.
