An exciting section of the tennis calendar awaits over the next six weeks. Gone is the European grass and clay. Instead, it’s all about the American hard-courts now. Last week saw the first of five tournaments that make up the road to the US Open with Taylor Fritz winning the Atlanta Open in front of a raucous home crowd.

ウィリアムヒルWith the Mubadala Citi DC Open 2023—a.k.a. the Washington Open—taking center stage this week, can Fritz maintain his momentum on American soil at this ATP 500 event? Will another American star grab the limelight? Or can the change in surface and continent provide an opportunity for a new player to breakout? We break down all the best bets to make ahead of the Washington Open 2023 with the latest odds from bookmaker William Hill.

Bookmaker William Hill has Taylor Fritz, the American No. 1, as the favourite heading into the Washington Open 2023. With odds of 7.50, last week’s Atlanta Open winner has his nose ahead of compatriot Frances Tiafoe, who sits second on 9.50 to win. Behind these two, Felix Auger-Aliassime, Hubert Hurkacz and Sebastian Korda round out the top five betting favourites on 11.00.

When it comes to the best bets to make ahead of this week’s event, the big question is whether or not Taylor Fritz can maintain his incredible level from the Atlanta Open. The world No. 9 was impeccable on serve and under pressure, and openly spoke about how much he enjoyed playing in front of an American crowd. If Fritz continues playing how he has been, he’ll be tough to stop in Washington.

However, the challenge of winning a final on Sunday then heading straight to a new tournament is real. Assuming that somewhere along the line this catches up to Fritz and he stumbles, there are several other excellent options to bet on—and none better than Sebastian Korda or Tallon Griekspoor.

Korda is returning 11.00 for a win, while Griekspoor pays a heavy 41.00. Both are excellent hard-court players with win percentages of 80% and 72% respectively on the surface this year. For Korda, he’s making a comeback from an injury that has seen him sidelined for the best part of the last six months. There have been promising signs so far with three top 25 wins in a row at Queen’s last month.

For Griekspoor, the Dutchman has already won two titles on hard surfaces this year and is primed to take advantage of the fast Washington courts. Take your pick between either of these two, but we say the 41.00 payout for Griekspoor is tough to ignore.
