You definitely need to have a special game plan if you want to get something on the board against Milan at San Siro. The Rossoneri have won each of their last four home matches in the league and boast 10 wins from their last 11 appearances in front of their fans.

Milan’s form has dipped a bit in 2022-23, but they are still in the Scudetto race and will be fueled by the chance to put further pressure on leaders Napoli. The gap between the two sides went down to five points after Milan opened 2023 with a 2-1 victory over Salernitana and Napoli took their first loss of the season with a 1-0 scoreline against Inter.

Rafael Leao scored the opening goal against Salernitana and has now started to build himself a bit of a goal streak after also netting in the final game of 2022. The 2021-22 Serie A Player of the Year had a very marginal role for Portugal at the World Cup and should be eager to prove his ability with consistent playing time. Leao has been a regular threat throughout the Serie A campaign with seven goals and five assists in 15 appearances.

Beating Milan on the road is a very tricky task, but taking down Roma isn’t an easy job either when they travel. Mourinho’s men have suffered just one away defeat all season and have managed four wins from their last five road outings. It’s been a huge improvement compared to last season when Mourinho lost six of his first 10 away games in charge of Roma.

Last season’s poor road run included a 3-1 defeat against Milan. Milan also won in Rome and this has led to a three-game winning streak in the head-to-head meetings. Roma last managed to beat Milan in 2019 and the Rossoneri have been on a five-game unbeaten streak since then, winning four of the contests. The tide has turned very suddenly in the match-up as Roma even won back-to-back road games against Milan in 2016-17 and 2017-18.
