※ Current Odds Date & Time: July 9th, 8:00 P.M. (EST)
The two South American powerhouses meet for the 108th time in history with Brazil holding a slight edge in victories with 43 to Argentina’s 39.
It’s very hard to predict who comes out on top this time around as neither side has lost a match since 2019. Brazil are on a 13-game unbeaten run, which includes 12 wins, and Argentina haven’t suffered a single loss in 19 outings. Their last defeat was at the 2019 Copa America semifinals against Brazil.
Brazil’s last loss came in November 2019 against Argentina when Lionel Messi scored the only goal of the contest. He looks set for another big performance after dominating throughout the tournament. The six-time Ballon d’Or winner has registered four goals and five assists at this year’s Copa America.
Messi has been involved in all but two Argentina goals at the tournament giving truly his all to finally taste some success with his national side. The Barcelona star has won the Olympics with Argentina but none of the major tournaments and time is running out with him being 34.
Only Uruguay (15) have more Copa America triumphs than Argentina (14), but La Albiceleste haven’t won the tournament since 1993. They have lost four finals since then including two against Brazil who comes in with nine Copa America wins.
The Brazilians suffered a bit of a blow during the group stage when a 1-1 draw against Ecuador ended a 10-game winning streak for them, but Tite’s team should still feel extremely confident ahead of Saturday’s clash as they have conceded just four goals since the Messi strike beat them in 2019.
A rock-solid defense is something you don’t generally associate with Brazil and it greatly boosts their chances of success as the team has plenty of firepower in attack.
Messi has grabbed most of the headlines during the competition, but Neymar has also been in fine form with two goals and three assists in five appearances. Brazil have 10 different goalscorers overall, which shows how dangerous they can be on the offensive end.
Both Neymar and Messi are chasing down Pele’s record of 77 international goals, which is the most by a South American player. Messi is just two short of tying the mark while Neymar will enter the Copa America final sitting on 68 goals.
