The Leafs will try to get back into the win column in the City of Brotherly Love after taking a 5-1 beating by L.A. on home ice Monday night. Netminder Jack Campbell had a poor outing and the team’s offense went completely cold after a nice scoring surge. Toronto started the week on a five-game winning streak during which they had scored 14 goals.

Despite the recent improvement, Toronto still ranks just 27th in scoring and head coach Sheldon Keefe has to figure out how to get the best out of his talented squad. Auston Matthews produced a pair of two-goal games last week, but overall he’s struggled to kick into gear after completely crushing it last season with 41 goals in 52 games.

Matthews & Co. now have to find a way to get some goals against one of the best defensive teams in the league. The Flyers have allowed only 2.40 goals per game and starting netminder Carter Hart looks to be on his way to recording a very good bounce-back season.

The 23-year-old finished last term with a 3.67 goals-against average and a .877 save percentage, but he’s managed to push his numbers up to 2.41 and .926 at the start of the new season. Backup Martin Jones has also impressed winning all of his first three starts for the team since signing as a free agent during the off-season.

Philadelphia’s offense has been flowing nicely as well with a 3.20 goals-for average. Centers Claude Giroux and Sean Couturier both sit on 12 points through the first 10 games of the campaign, and Cam Atkinson is another new addition to get off to a great start at his new club as he’s scored a team-high six goals.

The Flyers have won five of their last six home games against the Leafs and in their current form, they seem to have a very good chance of keeping up the good record. Their chances are also backed by the fact that the home team has won nine of the last 12 clashes between these two teams.
