Conte had a very eventful debut as Spurs manager on Thursday in a UEFA Conference League clash with Dutch side Vitesse. Tottenham jumped to an early 3-0 lead only to give up two quick goals in succession and the match featured three red cards. It’s only the second time this century a European fixture has had at least five goals and three red cards.

The fiery Italian will be pleased how he got the team’s offense to click straight away, but he won’t be happy with the defense and will certainly put a lot of focus on improving it as quickly as possible. The team’s defensive efforts in the league have also left a lot to be desired this season.

Conte’s second big task will be lighting the fire in Harry Kane’s eyes again. Tottenham’s starman has recorded only one goal and one assist in nine Premier League outings this season. He’s looked well off the pace and only registered four touches in the penalty box last Sunday in a 3-0 loss to Manchester United.

On paper it looks like a perfect match with Conte having completely turned around Romelu Lukaku’s career trajectory in two years at Inter Milan. If he can do it with Kane as well then the Spurs could be playing with the big boys again even sooner than we expect.

Everton are also dreaming of moving up in the table and Rafa Benitez gave them a glimpse of what life could look like earlier in the season, but reality – and injuries – have struck painfully and the Toffees sit on a three-game losing streak ahead of Sunday’s matchup.

Benitez is without his talisman Dominic Calvert-Lewin, defensive stalwart Yerry Mina and midfield motor Abdoulaye Doucoure. Adding to that, Lucas Digne missed Monday’s action against Wolverhampton and is questionable for the weekend. His addition would be big for the side at both ends of the pitch and Benitez needs all the quality he can get here to ruin Conte’s Premier League comeback.
