Toothless Spain Under Big Pressure Ahead of Matchup with Slovakia

Following two disappointing draws, Spain needs a result against Slovakia in their final group stage game at the EURO 2020.

10Bet LogoSpain’s offense has been toothless so far, but bookmaker 10Bet believes that they will get the goals flowing here. The odds are at 1.33 for Spain to score at least twice and at 2.05 for Luis Enrique’s team to find the net at least three times.

La Roja has had plenty of opportunities through two games registering 28 total shots, but the team has lacked a ruthless finisher. Enrique has praised Alvaro Morata and his record of 20 goals in 42 games for the side and the Juventus man scored in the last round against Poland, but he’s had a lot of poor misses at the tournament.

Villarreal star Gerard Moreno started alongside Morata in the last game but missed a penalty and Spain had to settle for a 1-1 draw. The team kicked off the action with a 0-0 draw against Sweden, so they’ll head into the final group stage game having scored just once. It’s a shocking record considering that Spain were one of the biggest favorites to win the competition.

They can, of course, still prove their quality but it could all be over with another lackluster effort on Wednesday. A draw might be good enough for the side to get through as one of the best third-place finishers, but the same result could also easily leave them at the bottom of the group if Poland beats Sweden.

Meanwhile, Slovakia should be more than happy to take the draw at the Estadio de La Cartuja. They were supposed to be the weakest team in the group, but by beating Poland in the opening round 2-1, Slovakia have a good chance to get through to the Round of 16.

The team’s style of play is far from attractive, but it’s been effective with the team losing just once in their past seven games and even that defeat came via a late Sweden penalty. Manager Stefan Tarkovic has proved that he knows how to shut up shop and it could lead to another frustrating evening for Spain.

On average age, Slovakia are the third-oldest team at the tournament and they will need to use all of their experience to get through a very tough match. Spain are capable of passing the opposition to death and even a tiny mistake could be very costly for Tarkovic’s men.
