The Saudi-backed LIV Golf Tour is finally going to Saudi-Arabia. Dustin Johnson and Cameron Smith will be teeing it up on the most oil rich soil in the world. Will we have an underdog winner like last week? Or can one of the favourites take the win at Jeddah? Online bookmaker bet365 has the odds.
Eugenio Lopez-Chacarra won his first event in Bangkok. Eugenio was a great college player who jumped right onto the LIV Tour. Clearly he can play as he beat some of the best players in the world last weekend. Lopez-Chacarra winning last week gives hope to other players in the field outside of Dustin Johnson and Cam Smith. Perhaps an underdog will get it done again this week.
The Goliath to Lopez-Chacarra’s David is Dustin Johnson. DJ has been impressive since joining LIV with a win and three top three finishes. His worse finish was fifteenth last week at Bangkok. DJ will be looking to bounce back with a win this week.
Though DJ is the most dominate player in the field, his odds suffer in consequence at 5.50 to win. There is better value on the board this week. Joaquin Niemann also had an off week in Bangkok finishing T20, but the Chilean star is one of the best approach players in the game and a pound for pound bomber.
Niemann finished T2 in Boston and T4 in Chicago. It is only a matter of time before Joaquin gets his first LIV trophy. At 10.00 to win, Joaquin may be the best value pick of the favourites.
This Weeks Long-shots
- Hudson Swafford at 201.00 to Win
- Cameron Tringale First Round Leader at 36.00
- Branden Grace at 41.00 to Win
Hudson Swafford misses a lot of cuts and has not finished inside the top 25 on the LIV Tour yet. However in January, Swafford won The American Express after a missed cut and a T48 finish. At 201.00, it is unlikely that Swafford will win, but it seems as though he can pull a rabbit out of the hat at times, so it may be worth a shot.
Cameron Tringale is a well-rounded player. When he gets hot, he can play well. He finished T6 at the Scottish Open leaving little doubt that the man can play with the best of them. Look for Tringale to have a strong Friday and take the lead.
Branden Grace won LIV Golf Portland. He has an elite short game and is a great iron player. If he has a good week, he can surely win again this weekend.
Tune into the action this weekend to watch DJ, Cam Smith and Joaquin Niemann battle against some young talents and legends of the game.
