Lille have won both of their last two away outings and they have suffered just three road losses since November last year. The team seems to enjoy playing without the added pressure of their fans. Les Dogues are also unbeaten in their last two trips to Marseille and in four games in total in the head-to-head meetings.

The side from Northern France suffered a shock early in the campaign when PSG picked them apart 7-1, but new manager Paulo Fonseca has quickly restored confidence in the team, and with 10 points to show for their efforts from six games, Lille can be pretty satisfied with their start to the campaign, even if there are five rivals with better points tallies.

Marseille boast 16 points and share the top spot with PSG, although their goal difference is far inferior to the Parisians. The first campaign under the guidance of Igor Tudor started rocky when there were suggestions of dressing room unrest, but the team has started to play some wonderful stuff and Saturday’s match gives Marseille a chance to register the first five-game winning run since 2020.

Alexis Sanchez has scored three goals during the current streak and will look to do some further damage against Lille. We haven’t seen the best of him for many years now, but the Chilean star appears to be hitting form again and it looks like he’ll be a huge asset for Marseille this season.

Marseille’s recent work at the back deserves a lot of plaudits as well, with the team having recorded three consecutive clean sheets. Starting goalkeeper Pau Lopez has conceded just once in four appearances this season and that was a goal from the penalty spot. It isn’t hard to maintain clean sheets either if you face only 1.5 shots on target per game.

Lille needs to put a lot more pressure on the Spanish goalkeeper if they want to become the first team to beat Marseille this season. Tudor has found a very good balance between his defense and the attack, but Fonseca is a highly-rated tactician who should have multiple tricks up his sleeve to cause the hosts trouble.
