Sunday will bring us a fascinating La Liga clash as Sevilla try to defend their unbeaten home record against Real Madrid who happens to be the best away side in the league.
There’s only been one draw in the match-up since 2017 and bookmaker William Hill has the odds at 2.80 for the game to not end in a draw again with both teams scoring.
※ Current Odds Date & Time: April 16th, 3:30 P.M. (EST)
Sevilla have dropped just eight points at home all season long and boast 11 wins from 15 outings at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium. Their home success also includes seven clean sheets.
If only the Andalusians had been able to replicate their home form on their travels, we might be witnessing a tight title battle if that were the case. Instead, Real have a 12-point advantage over Sevilla and Barcelona heading comfortably towards their 35th league title.
Sevilla have blown their title chance in 2022 winning just five league games. They were win-less in four before defeating Granada 4-2 with stoppage-time goals in the last round.
Beating Real on Sunday might provide some drama for the title race but it’s going to be incredibly hard to do. Los Blancos have won 11 of their 15 away outings and they have suffered just three defeats all season.
Real won the first meeting of the season 2-1 and they have now gone six games unbeaten in the match-up winning five of the games.
Fittingly, it was the duo of Karim Benzema and Vinicius Junior that turned a loss into a victory against Sevilla back in November. They have been in immense form throughout the campaign and always like to pop up with a match-winning moment in the big games as well.
Benzema has scored a career-high 38 goals this season and boasts 51 goal involvements in total across 38 outings while Vinicius has registered 17 goals and 17 assists in 43 appearances.
Many had doubts whether the Brazilian would actually come good for Real following his €45 million move from Flamengo in 2018, but he’s developed into one of the most exciting players in world football and the 21-year-old will look to make a big impact again on Sunday.
A victory at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium would be a massive step towards the league title for Real. Barcelona could close the gap with Real to nine points if they win their next match but there’s not a lot of action left anymore this season, and if Real get three points on Sunday, they will likely need just a couple of more wins to seal the deal.
