It is time for yet another UFC Fight Night. This time taking place at the Pechanga Arena in San Diego, California.
For this weekend’s spectacle we have Marlon Vera vs. Dominick Cruz in a thrilling five-round main event in the bantamweight category. Will the Ecuadorian manage to secure yet another victory? Or will Cruz end his win streak? Online bookmaker bet365 has the latest odds!
※ Current Odds Date & Time: August 12th, 05:00 A.M. (EST)
This week’s odds are heavily weighed in Vera’s favour with the moneyline odds on him at 1.45. His opponent, Dominick Cruz stands at a disadvantage at 2.80. With both fighters on a win streak, they will definitely aim to continue their spell of victories and move higher through the ranks.
Hailing from Chone, Ecuador, Marlon Vera is one of the top tier fighters in UFC at the moment. He is currently ranked 5th in the overall standings with an impressive record of 19-7-1. His three previous fights ended in victory against Rob Font by decision in round 5 in May earlier this year, against Frankie Edgar by TKO/KO in November of 2021 and lastly against Davey Grant in June of 2021 by decision in round 3. Clearly motivated, Vera will definitely aim to make it four in a row against Cruz this weekend.
Fighting on his home turf of San Diego is Dominick “the Dominator” Cruz. Cruz currently stands at a staggering record of 24-3-0 earning him the No. 8 place in the overall UFC rankings.
Unlike Vera, Cruz is looking to secure his third consecutive victory this weekend having won his two previous bouts against Pedro Munhcoz by decision in round 3 in December of 2021 and against Casey Kenney also by decision in round 3 in March of the same year. It will be an impressive feat if Cruz can take yet another victory in round 3 against Vera this weekend and perhaps earn a new nickname as well.
With both fighters specializing in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, it will be interesting to see how the fight goes down. Vera stands at an advantage both on paper and with the oddsmakers with a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu while Cruz holds a blue belt in the same martial art.
The result may come down to experience and luck but one thing’s for sure though, it will be a match-up we don’t want to miss!
