2024 PDC World Darts Championship | Michael van Gerwen Aims to Reclaim Lost Glory

The Alexandra Palace in London is all set to host the 2024 PDC World Darts Championship commencing on December 15th and concluding on January 3rd. We look forward to seeing some fiery darts action this week as the likes of Michael Smith, Michael van Gerwen, and Luke Humphries are expected to shine big in this marquee darts championship event.

At present, Michael Smith is the defending champion, who became the winner of the 2023 PDC Championship Final by thrashing the almighty Michael van Gerwen 7–4. The winner of this year’s championship tournament is entitled to receive a prize money of a galloping £500,000 from the PDC.

ウィリアムヒルHere is a comprehensive break down of the latest odds from bookmaker William Hill coupled with our latest betting insights.

Current Odds Date & Time: December 14th, 12:30 AM (GMT)

Luke Humphries of England sits at favorite to win outright with bookmaker William Hill, but only by a fraction of a margin. Humphries returns odds of 4.00, marginally ahead of the triple-champion Michael van Gerwen who returns 4.50. Welshman Gerwyn Price is not so far behind in the race either. His odds currently sit at 6.00 and it is only from this point onward that the odds see a drastic dip.

Surprisingly enough, Michael Smith, who won last year’s PDC championship title finds himself lagging in the race. His chances of defending the title look less likely this time around as his odds are down to 13.00, joint with Gary Anderson who currently has odds of 13.00 as well.

The question is which player will emerge as the best bet? In our opinion, there are two potential routes to consider. You may either err to the side of caution and place your bet on Luke Humphries who currently ranks third in the PDC rankings list. Amidst a sensational run in 2023 along with three PDC title wins to his name already, Humphries seems to be the most likely candidate to emerge victorious in the tournament.

Or you could gamble on Michael van Gerwen who at present ranks second in the PDC rankings. The Dutchman is a world-class operator and is looking in fine form, especially after his blazing title victory at the 2023 Cazoo Premier League Darts earlier this year.

With odds of 12.00, Michael Smith looks like a less probable wager. But if he fires then he could yield some juicy returns. The number one-ranked dart player is experiencing a lean patch and has failed at the last hurdle of virtually every championship tournament this year. However, the Englishman will certainly be motivated ahead of this competition and will be looking to defend his title at any cost.
