City will be disappointed not to have finished off the tie in the first leg after Riyad Mahrez put the team up 1-0 inside the first half an hour. With that said, they are still well positioned to advance to the last eight.

Mahrez was fully rested over the weekend against Crystal Palace and Kevin De Bruyne only made a cameo appearance as well, which shows that Pep Guardiola is desperate to finally enjoy some success in Europe with City.

Erling Haaland is set to draw a lot of attention again Tuesday night and the likes of Mahrez and De Bruyne could play a key role in the match. Both have showcased great play-making ability and are also decent finishers. With only a yard of space, Mahrez and De Bruyne can make anything happen.

Leipzig will hope to keep things tight at the back and manager Marco Rose will want to see Timo Werner and Emil Forsberg make up for the absence of Christopher Nkunku. Leipzig’s star man has picked up another injury and will be unavailable for Tuesday’s game.

Both Werner and Forsberg scored over the weekend in a 3-0 win over Borussia Mönchengladbach. It was a special outing for Forsberg as he scored in the Bundesliga in a fourth consecutive game for the first time in his career. The Swedish midfielder has always been more known for his creativity and passing ability and it must have been a very pleasant surprise for Rose that Forsberg has now started to score regularly.

City will be hosting the Red Bulls for the second time in the Champions League. The pair were drawn together in the same group last season and there was a goal-fest at Etihad that the hosts eventually won 6-3.

With Nkunku scoring all three of Leipzig’s goals that day, he will clearly be missed. But City has shown some weakness this season and anything is possible for the German side if Rose can come up with a smart game plan.
