Moist Esports comes into Boston as the defending champions but will be hard pressed to defend their title with plenty of other sides in strong form ahead of the Spring Split Major this year. Karmine Corp will be eager to carry on from their win in the Winter Split Major earlier this season, while Team Vitality has won every event they’ve entered since April.

Looking at the outright betting odds from bookmaker bet365, it’s clear that this will be a tightly contested tournament. Team Vitality has their noses in front at 4.33 in the outright winner odds, but only just. Behind them on 5.50 is Karmine Corp, while Gen.G is not far off as the third favourite in the betting odds at 7.50. Rounding out the top five, Team BDS pays 8.00 and Team Liquid sits on 9.00. Odds to make the final follow a similar pattern with the same teams making up the top five favourites to reach the final.

In terms of the best bets to make on this event, it’s hard to go past Team Vitality continuing their red hot form. Since their underwhelming performance at the Winter Split Major, where they placed 5th-8th, Team Vitality has been virtually untouchable. Of the eight events they’ve played, Team Vitality has won six and finished runner-up in the remaining two. Right now, they’re the in-form side, and it’s the logical bet that they’ll continue this form and win here in Boston over the coming days.
There is an argument to be made that Team Vitality hasn’t performed on the big stage recently, however, which has some merit. In that case, the side that has shown an ability to step up when it matters is Karmine Corp. They were arguably the form side before Team Vitality hit their current purple patch and are the winners of the most recent S-tier tournament, the Winter Split Major in April. As the second favourite at bookmaker bet365, Karmine Corp generates a healthy return while still being a very realistic betting option.
