Bayern has always had the upper hand in the match-up against Leipzig, but the Super Cup defeat means the Bundesliga dominator has suffered two consecutive defeats in the fixture. Before Dani Olmo struck a memorable hat trick against Bayern last month, Leipzig won a trip to Munich in May, coming from behind to record a 3-1 victory. Bayern had previously lost just one of the 16 meetings between the two sides since Leipzig joined the top flight in 2016.

The two defeats have been a big blow to Bayern’s pride, and the team should be fired up to set things straight on Saturday. With Harry Kane putting up video game numbers in Germany, you wouldn’t put it past Bayern to bounce back in style.

Kane had an incredible outing with a hat trick and five goal involvements a week ago versus Bochum and has now officially enjoyed the best-ever start in Bayern history in terms of goal-scoring. The England captain has netted seven times in his first five Bundesliga outings, beating the club’s previous record, which was shared among Gerd Müller, Miroslav Klose, and Mario Mandzukic, by two goals.

Leipzig managed to record its third-ever clean sheet against Bayern in August, but Marco Rose’s men faced Kane for only half an hour, and keeping him in check looks like an extremely difficult task at present. Across all competitions, Kane boasts eight goals and four assists in just seven outings for Bayern.

However, Rose has plenty of attacking firepower himself. Dutch talent Xavi Simmons has looked mesmerizing early in his Bundesliga career, registering seven goal involvements in just 390 minutes of action, and Leipzig also appears to have struck gold with the signing of Benjamin Sesko. The young Slovenian forward has logged only 256 minutes for the team but has already bagged five goals, meaning he is averaging a goal every 51.2 minutes.
