Roma Seeks Revenge in Derby vs. Lazio

All the focus in the Italian Serie A will be on the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday as AS Roma and Lazio meet for the second time this season. Jose Mourinho’s men will look to avenge a 3-2 defeat suffered in the matchup back in September.

10Bet LogoThere were six bookings in the first meeting of the season and bookmaker 10bet has the total set at 3.5 for both teams on Sunday. The odds are at 2.20 for Roma to get over 3.5 cards and at 2.30 for Lazio to finish with at least four cards.

Lazio will try to become the first away side to win the fixture since 2017. They enter the match-up off the back of two consecutive wins and should be full of confidence, especially with Ciro Immobile in red-hot form.

The Lazio captain has scored eight goals in his last nine league appearances and has just become the club’s all-time leading scorer in Serie A. He bagged his 144th goal via a penalty in Monday’s 1-0 win over Venezia moving past the legendary Silvio Piola.

Immobile tops the Serie A scoring charts with 21 goals in 25 games and will be desperate to improve his derby record. The 32-year-old has a very good scoring record against almost every team he’s faced, but the match-ups against Roma have brought him just five goals in 14 Serie A games.

Roma should be carrying some good confidence as well after stringing together an eight-game unbeaten run in the league. There’s finally been some consistency following an up-and-down start to Mourinho’s reign.

The Giallorossi also have an in-form forward in Tammy Abraham. The former Chelsea man notched just two goals in his first 11 Serie A appearances, but he’s steadily found his rhythm and now sits on a very nice streak of nine goals scored across 12 outings. He’s scored the lone goal in both of Roma’s most recent wins over Spezia and Atalanta.

With Abraham in top form, Roma have managed to start a proper battle with Lazio for the fifth league position. There’s only one point separating the two teams and a derby win would be massive for both sides. There have been just three draws in the last 16 Rome derbies and we can expect both teams to go all out for the victory again on Sunday.
