Sacramento’s lone loss in the last eight games came in the most recent outing as Trae Young dominated on home court and led his Atlanta team to a 115-106 victory. The Kings needed their star man De’Aaron Fox to match Young’s output, but he ended up having a rare quiet night.
Fox has been very impressive early in the campaign, averaging 25.4 points per game with 5.0 rebounds and 6.3 assists. He had dropped 30 points in back-to-back games before the Hawks found a way to limit Fox to 18 points. He will be eager to bounce back on Friday and results have shown that if Fox is on his game, the Kings can be a very difficult team to beat.
Boston enters the match-up in good form as well, having dropped just one of their last 11 games. Chicago ended their nine-game winning streak on Monday before the Celtics got going again with a 125-112 win over Dallas.
Jayson Tatum continued his productive campaign with a 37-point night against the Mavericks and will hope to stay in form against Sacramento. He has a chance to register his 10th 30-point outing of the season.
Tatum has averaged 30.6 points per game so far with 7.9 rebounds and 4.7 assists. It’s very hard to slow him down, and even if you somehow find a way to do it, Jaylen Brown can easily pop up and have a big game himself. He enjoyed a nice 31-point outing against Dallas.
Considering Boston’s quality, Sacramento will definitely need to provide good support to Fox to have a chance of winning. Domantas Sabonis should play a big role and a lot of focus will be on Malik Monk after he scored a season-high 27 points against Atlanta.
Match-ups between these two sides tend to be very unpredictable. Boston won both meetings last season but the Kings did the double over them the year before. Since the start of the 2011-12 season, there have been only two three-game winning streaks by one team in the battle.
