Inter are topping the table with a four-point advantage over Napoli and Milan while also having a game in hand over both teams. The Nerazzurri have a near-perfect record since playing out a 1-1 draw in the first derby of the season leaving quite a distance between them and the rest of the pack.

Led by Lautaro Martinez, Inter have put together the best attacking record in the league and they have also conceded just 17 goals across 22 outings. Starting life under a new manager is never easy for a team, but Inter have adjusted incredibly well to Simone Inzaghi’s work methods. He’s even managed to bring back the Alexis Sanchez of old.

The former Arsenal star has struggled for form ever since leaving London and his life in Milan has gone up and down, but Sanchez impressed before heading off to international duty with four goals in eight games, among them a very emotional 120th-minute winner in the Italian Super Cup against Juventus.

Martinez finds himself in a bit of a slump with four straight goalless efforts in the league and Joaquin Correa is out injured, but Inzaghi will know that he has a real joker in his pack of cards in Sanchez.

Milan have injury problems at the back and could also be without Zlatan Ibrahimovic who is nursing an Achilles problem. The veteran striker is the team’s top scorer with eight league goals and heading into the battle without him would be a major blow for the side.

The Rossoneri have the second-best attacking record in the league, but their defensive play hasn’t been anywhere near to Inter’s quality and they could be regretting it big time come the end of the season.

The defensive vulnerability was perfectly summed up in a recent defeat to Spezia where the team was pushing for a winner late in stoppage time and got punished on a counter-attack.

Stefano Pioli has seen his side drop points in four of the last seven games and it’s left Milan with very little room for error. A win on Saturday is a must if they want to have realistic hopes of catching Inter.
