※ Current Odds Date & Time: January 22nd, 6:30 A.M. (EST)
Tottenham have won just one of their last 36 away games against Chelsea in all competitions suffering 20 losses during the stretch. The latest one was a 2-0 defeat just a couple of weeks ago in the League Cup.
The two teams have already met three times in total this season and it’s not been pretty for Tottenham who haven’t scored in any of the encounters. In fact, Tottenham actually haven’t scored in five straight meetings with Chelsea.
The stats don’t look promising at all for the Spurs, but they should feel pretty confident as the team is unbeaten under Antonio Conte in the Premier League. The former Chelsea boss has recorded six wins and three draws so far.
Conte has found a way to make the team work as a unit again and he’s also managed to get Harry Kane going, which was always going to be the most important thing for Tottenham.
The England captain had a miserable start to the campaign, but he recently put together a three-game scoring streak and he’ll head to Stamford Bridge having scored in four of the last five league games. Kane will hope to end a seven-game dry spell in the match-up.
Things seem to be on the way up at Tottenham while it seems to be the opposite for Chelsea. The Blues failed to win another game on Tuesday against Brighton and they have now dropped points in nine of their past 13 league outings. On Sunday, the five-time Premier League champions could go five straight league fixtures without a win for the first time since 2012.
Thomas Tuchel noted after the Brighton game that his team looked very tired and promised to give everybody two days off. It will be interesting to see if it will lead to a better performance on Sunday.
Chelsea were challenging for the title not long ago, but they are now forced to watch over their shoulder with a number of teams hunting for a spot in the top four. Tottenham are among those sides and thus we should see a very spirited effort from the visitors on Sunday.
