The Red Devils are off to a shocking start to the season and find themselves still looking for their first points of the campaign. On Monday, United will try to get off the mark against a side that beat them last season with a combined score of 9-0 across two games.

Liverpool have stumbled out of the gate as well, drawing both of their games, but Jürgen Klopp should have his troops firing again soon enough. The 2020 Premier League champions had just one three-games run without a win last season and they are bound to get back on track sooner rather than later.

The United match will be the first of Darwin Nunez’s three-game suspension and with Diogo Jota nursing a thigh injury, Mohamed Salah will draw most of the focus in Liverpool’s attack. The Egyptian superstar made history last term by becoming the first player ever to score five goals against United in a single Premier League season.

Salah has scored in five of his last six appearances against United and should fancy his chances for another big performance against a team that has lost three of their last eight Premier League games by four-plus goals.

United will continue to look towards Cristiano Ronaldo, although even he seemed completely lost on the pitch in the defeat to Brentford. The media keeps linking him with a move away from Old Trafford, but Erik ten Hag has insisted that the Portuguese ace still remains very much part of his plans.

Ronaldo has lost three straight league games for the first time ever in his career and needs to produce an inspiring performance on Monday if he wants to end the poor spell.

It’s been six years since the last time United managed to beat Liverpool in the league. Marcus Rashford scored twice in a 2-1 win at Old Trafford in March 2018. The England international has been off form for a long time now, but he’s got some very good history in this fixture with five goals scored against Liverpool and maybe he could be the one to provide the team a much-needed spark to put the awful start to the season behind them.
