Slumping Arsenal Looks for Form vs. Chelsea

Following three straight defeats, Arsenal will look to get back on track against Chelsea on Wednesday. The Gunners have a great head-to-head record in the match-up losing just once in their past five meetings across all competitions.

ウィリアムヒルBookmaker William Hill has the odds at 1.95 for Arsenal to end their losing run and avoid defeat against Chelsea once again.

This is a second consecutive London derby at Stamford Bridge in the league for Chelsea and the Blues will want to produce a big bounce-back effort after taking a surprising 4-1 loss against Brentford on Apr. 2.

It was a real shocker against the Bees, but Chelsea’s form has actually been very good in the Premier League with six wins across their last seven games. They completely tore apart Southampton in their last league outing winning 6-0 away from home and scoring all of their goals in 54 minutes.

Mason Mount was the star man at St. Mary’s with two goals and an assist, and he’s heated up again ahead of the final stretch of the season. Chelsea’s No. 19 has recorded five goals and six assists in his last nine appearances. It surely isn’t a coincidence that the team started to play better as well just as Mount hit form again.

Arsenal will need to cut away the supply lines to Mount and make sure that they don’t give up too much space for him to operate. Mount can hurt teams in multiple ways and it’s a big step towards getting a result against Chelsea if you can keep him quiet.

The Gunners were enjoying some superb form as well not long ago going for nine wins in 11 league outings, but everything has suddenly fallen apart. The Premier League’s Manager of the Month award curse seems to be real indeed because Arsenal’s current three-game losing streak started right after Mikel Arteta picked up the award for the team’s March efforts.

There have been a couple of key injuries as well and it currently looks like Arsenal are in for a very rocky ride for the rest of the season. Following the trip to Stamford Bridge, Arteta’s men take on Manchester United over the weekend and there are also fixtures against West Ham and Tottenham coming up. Getting a top-four spot will be impossible for them if the team can’t find a way back to winning ways.
