Lampard’s reign got off to a very good start over the weekend with a 4-1 win over Brentford in the FA Cup. The Toffees dominated despite not having new signings Donny van de Beek and Dele Alli available for the contest. Both should make their debuts on Tuesday.

Everton’s midfield has lacked creativity and van de Beek and Alli certainly have the quality to change that. In Lampard, they also have a great mentor who should be able to steer their careers back on the right track.

Van de Beek and Alli will hope to help Lampard become the 13th straight permanent Everton manager not to lose the first league game in charge.

Meanwhile, Newcastle will try to record back-to-back league wins for the first time this season. They also have a chance to go unbeaten for four straight games for the first time in 2021-22.

The Magpies will roll out a shiny new signing here as well in Bruno Guimaraes. The former Lyon man is a tenacious midfielder who should give the team a boost at both ends of the pitch.

Having spent close to 92 million pounds on January signings, Eddie Howe will be under big pressure to start delivering results and eventually save the club from relegation. He’s managed to lead the side to a couple of big results lately but the job is far from finished.

It’s been a very frustrating season for Newcastle fans especially due to the team’s inability to hold onto leads. They have dropped a league-high 21 points from winning positions this season and had they managed to avoid it even in a few games, their current situation in the league would be much more comfortable.

Everton have had the opposite problem. Rafa Benitez took charge of 22 games across all competitions and the team gave up the first goal an incredible 16 times. Lampard has to make good starts a habit for the team and it should ideally start straight away in his first league game.
