Having lost three of its five matches, Sassuolo has struggled at the start of the Serie A campaign, but the team has been able to rely on a prolific duo. Former Inter man Andrea Pinamonti is sitting among the league’s top scorers with four goals, and talisman Domenico Berardi, who missed the first couple of games of the season, has tallied three goals in three outings. Can the pair now trouble an Inter defense that has so far conceded just one goal?

Martinez will be facing off against one of his favorite opponents. Since arriving in Italy in 2018, Martinez has netted five times in 10 appearances against Sassuolo, adding two assists. Only bottom side Empoli (13) has conceded more goals than Sassuolo (11) this season, so Martinez looks nicely placed to continue his success against the side from Emilia-Romagna.
This fixture has also been kind to Inter as a team. Sassuolo’s 2-0 San Siro victory in 2022 marks the Nerazzurri’s lone defeat in the last nine head-to-head games. The stretch includes six wins for the 19-time Italian champ.
