With the stakes high, a cagey affair is expected, but these two played out a 2-2 thriller in the first meeting of the season and have combined for at least three goals in five consecutive clashes. Jose Mourinho likely hasn’t seen his side develop as much as he hoped during his second year in the Eternal City, but this could still be a very successful season for Roma if they win a European trophy and can achieve a top-four finish in Serie A.
Mourinho has just taken charge of his 100th game as Roma boss and it wasn’t a pleasant experience as a series of individual errors led to a 3-1 defeat against Atalanta on Monday. It was definitely a big disappointment for Mourinho, especially with Atalanta also challenging for a Champions League berth, but it was also an away outing. Roma has done much better at home this season and will be going for an eighth victory in nine league outings at Olimpico on Saturday.
