Napoli can secure the Serie A title this weekend, but there is a tight battle for Champions League places going on behind them and we get the see a fascinating clash in the race on Saturday as AS Roma hosts AC Milan.
With the stakes high, a cagey affair is expected, but these two played out a 2-2 thriller in the first meeting of the season and have combined for at least three goals in five consecutive clashes. Bookmaker William Hill has the odds at 2.50 for another game with over 2.5 goals between the teams on Saturday.
※ Current Odds Date & Time: April 27th, 6:30 P.M. (EST)
The two take the pitch sitting level on points and they even have the same goal difference. Considering they played out a draw in the first game of the season, there’s literally nothing separating the teams and this makes winning crucial for both on Saturday.
Playing at home, Roma will have a slight advantage in the match-up, but Milan is six games unbeaten against the Giallorossi and will be in a confident mood on Saturday following back-to-back wins in Rome over the last two seasons.
Milan dropped out of the title race with an awful start to 2023, but they have regained some form lately and even boast two wins over Napoli this month. A huge 4-0 league triumph was followed up by a 1-0 victory in the Champions League. The Rossoneri find themselves back in the Champions League semi-finals and it should be a major lift for the side.
Meanwhile, Roma is preparing for the Europa League semi-finals. Jose Mourinho likely hasn’t seen his side develop as much as he hoped during his second year in the Eternal City, but this could still be a very successful season for Roma if they win a European trophy and can achieve a top-four finish in Serie A.
Mourinho has just taken charge of his 100th game as Roma boss and it wasn’t a pleasant experience as a series of individual errors led to a 3-1 defeat against Atalanta on Monday. It was definitely a big disappointment for Mourinho, especially with Atalanta also challenging for a Champions League berth, but it was also an away outing. Roma has done much better at home this season and will be going for an eighth victory in nine league outings at Olimpico on Saturday.
