After 25 rounds of play, the best eight teams have been found in Australia’s 2022 National Rugby League competition.
With eight teams failing to make the cut, the Panthers, Sharks, Cowboys, Eels, Storm, Roosters, Rabbitohs and Raiders will now spend the next month playing finals footy to determine who will stand alone as the NRL 2022 Premiership winners.
We look at the outright odds for each team to win the Grand Final on the first Sunday of October.
※ Current Odds Date & Time: September 8th, 2:00 P.M. (EST)
Unsurprisingly, the Penrith Panthers are the team to beat in 2022 NRL finals footy. With odds of 2.20 from bookmaker William Hill, the Panthers are strong favourites to win the Grand Final as they have been for the majority of the season. However, despite having locked up the top spot on the ladder weeks ago, Penrith have revealed some weaknesses in recent times with three of their fours losses this season coming in the last six games.
The Parramata Eels are second favourites to win the title this year despite only finishing fourth on the NRL ladder. With odds of 6.50 to win the Grand Final, the Eels are running hot having won five of their last six matches, including big wins over fellow finalists the Panthers and Storm.
Behind Parramata, both the Sydney Roosters and Melbourne Storm sit at 8.00 and are third equal favourites for the title this year. Sydney only managed a sixth place finish on the ladder but are on an eight game winning streak and are coming in as one of the best form teams of the competition right now.
Melbourne on the other hand, finished fifth and have lost their last two round robin games of the year. However, as one of the most decorated teams in NRL history, there’s no doubting the threat of a Melbourne side that has qualified for finals footy.
This coming weekend sees the first of four weekends to decide the NRL 2022 Grand Final winner with two Qualifying Finals being played alongside two Elimination Finals.
The Panthers face the Eels and Sharks face the Cowboys in Qualifying Finals while the Storm play the Raiders and Roosters play Rabbitohs in the Elimination Finals. Winners of the Qualifying Finals will get the week off next week while the losers will return to play the winners of the Elimination Finals for a spot in the Preliminary Finals.
The two teams that lose in this weekend’s Elimination Finals will see their dreams of a 2022 NRL title extinguished.
