The Six Nations Champions 2023 reaches its halfway mark this week, with Round Three of five being played across Saturday and Sunday. While last round saw big steps taken towards Ireland claiming the trophy as the men in green beat France comprehensively, Round Three is shaping up to be another season-defining round as well.
This time, it’s Scotland under the microscope. After winning their opening two games of the Six Nations for the first time ever, can they continue their momentum by getting a win over France? If they do so, they’ll establish themselves as genuine contenders for the title. Fail to however and the title is all but Ireland’s. We look at all the betting odds ahead of Round Three of the Six Nations Championship 2023 with bookmaker William Hill and preview the best wagers to make.
※ Current Odds Date & Time: February 23rd, 9:00 P.M. (GMT)
Of the three games this weekend, the first is expected to be the least competitive. Ireland is the heavy favourite to win this year’s Six Nations in addition to being the current World No. 1 team. Italy, on the other hand, has come last in the Six Nations 17 of the past 23 seasons and are zero from two so far this year. The result is bookmaker William Hill putting Italy at 10.00 to win with only 1.04 offered up for an Irish victory. Ultimately, we expect this to be a straightforward victory for Ireland and provide the side a chance to catch their breath before rounding out their campaign with two tough matches against Scotland and England.
Wales vs. England is anticipated to be one of the closer matches this weekend, with William Hill putting England ahead by 1.40 to 3.00. Historically, these two nations are bitter rugby rivals, with England leading the overall head to head 66-60. However, it’s dire times for Welsh rugby right now with the side also sitting at zero from two in the Six Nations, having lost by 24 points to Ireland and 28 points to Scotland. This match almost did not go ahead as well, courtesy of contract disputes between the Welsh players and their union. Add all of this up and it looks like an English win at 1.40 is the most likely outcome here.
Rounding out the weekend is what will likely be the closest fought match of the round despite bookmaker William Hill not giving the most competitive odds. France leads Scotland in the winner odds by 1.28 to 3.60, but we say if you’re planning to pick an upset, this is the match to do so.
Scotland has been playing some fierce rugby, defeating England in Twickenham before hosting Wales and pasting them 35-7. The Scots have won three of the last five matches between Scotland and France, including their last meeting in Paris. With France now only an outside chance of winning the Six Nations and Scotland still right in the mix, we say the men in navy blue could cause a boil over here and are a great bet to win at 3.60.
