Barca will be looking to get back on track after settling for a 1-1 draw versus Rayo Vallecano a week ago. Having also lost the first El Clasico of the season a few weeks back, Barcelona has fallen off the pace a bit in the La Liga title race. However, a positive result with a good performance would be an excellent way to reignite the season.

Barcelona’s 2-1 defeat to Real Madrid on Oct. 28 is the team’s only game without a home victory in the league this season. The Blaugrana have temporarily moved away from Camp Nou but have quickly turned the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys into their new fortress.

A winning performance on Sunday would mark a special day for Diego Simeone, as the Atletico manager has famously never beaten Barcelona away from home. Overall, the Argentine has recorded only five wins from 34 matches in the big match-up. He’ll be hoping to snap a three-game losing run in the fixture.

Atleti has been enjoying a very good run early in the season. The team recently recorded the club’s biggest-ever win in the Champions League with a 6-0 scoreline versus Celtic, and there have been 11 wins across the past 13 outings in all competitions for Atletico.

Simeone has been known as a defensive-minded manager, but he’s gotten his team to play very attractive and attacking football this season. Antoine Griezmann and Alvaro Morata have been leading the charge, combining for 25 goals across all competitions. With both in hot form in front of the net, Atletico became the first team in the top five leagues in Europe to boast multiple players with double-digit goals in 2023-24.

Stopping the prolific duo will be a big challenge for Barcelona. The team had a fantastic defensive record last term, but things haven’t worked out quite as well at the back this season. With 14 La Liga rounds played, Xavi’s side has conceded a goal per game. A clean sheet on Sunday would make Barcelona only the third team to nullify Atletico this season.
