Vegas will be looking to rekindle its offense after settling for just two goals in Thursday’s 3-2 overtime loss. After giving up 12 goals across the first two meetings, the Panthers found a way to tighten things up at the back and goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky had a lot more confidence playing in front of home fans.
Bobrovsky has earned a lot of praise throughout the playoffs and his record is still at an impressive 12-4 despite him having dropped back-to-back games at the start of the Finals. Florida needs another strong performance from him Saturday to avoid a 3-1 series deficit.
After giving up a lead late in regulation, the Golden Knights will be very disappointed that they couldn’t win Game 3 but another good performance should keep their confidence levels high ahead of the weekend. The team is still nicely positioned in the series and remains the favorite to win the cup.
Will Jonathan Marchessault continue his revenge tour on Saturday? The former Panther has set a new Vegas record with 13 goals in a single postseason and he’s become only the third player in the last 30 years to score in each of his first three Finals appearances. It’s been tough to outshine Florida’s Matthew Tkachuk in these playoffs, but Marchessault has certainly done it so far in the Finals.
Vegas also has Jack Eichel in red-hot form. The American superstar was heavily criticized for his performances during the regular season, but he’s found a completely different gear in the playoffs, posting 23 points in 20 games. He has opened the Finals with five points in three games.
Can Marchessault and Eichel now help the Golden Knights to change their fortunes in games played in Florida? They have won only one of their last six visits to Sunrise. In fact, the home team has won 12 of the last 13 games between these two teams, which is a great sign for the Panthers ahead of Game 4.
