Last week, the two most in-form golf players in the world right now went face to face: Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm. While neither were successful in winning the WM Phoenix Open, Rahm put in by far the better shift in Arizona, coming a few shots from winning his third title this year.
This week, with the Genesis Invitational beginning on Thursday, the 16th of February, another opportunity presents itself for the best players on the PGA Tour to test themselves. McIlroy will be looking for a much improved performance while last week’s winner, Scottie Scheffler, will be eager to spoil the party yet again. Add to this the fact that Tiger Woods is playing in his first major tournament since 2022, and we have an excellent week of golf on our hands.
Who will prevail in this staked Southern California tournament claim the top prize? Bookmaker William Hill has all the odds as we breakdown the best bets to make on the 2023 Genesis Invitational this week.

Looking at the latest outright odds from bookmaker William Hill, it’s no surprise that Jon Rahm and Rory McIlroy are the top two favourites to win in Los Angeles. At 8.50, Rahm holds a slight lead over McIlroy who pays 9.50 for a win. Last week’s winner Scottie Scheffler is third favourite at 11.00 before Justin Thomas and Tony Finau are equal fourth on 15.00. Returning star Tiger Woods is a whopping 101.00 to win his comeback tournament.
We see two strong bets to make this week. First, back McIlroy to get another win here. The Northern Irishman is World No. 1 for a reason and while he finished T32 at last week’s WM Phoenix Open 2023, he’s been in fine form. The week before that, he won the Dubai Desert Classic,as well as the CJ Cup prior to that. McIlroy is known for bouncing back strong after having an off week like he did in Arizona and there’s every chance that he’ll continue that pattern here in Los Angeles. With odds of 9.50, this is a great wager to take.

Our second bet is to back Scottie Scheffler to continue his form from last week. The World No. 2 won the WM Phoenix Open in impressive fashion when all eyes were on Rahm and McIlroy. While he won’t necessarily win this week given the caliber of the field, a bet on him to finish within the top 10 is a strong gamble to make.
And for those who are feeling like taking a big punt—why not put a few dollars down on Woods, who is returning an incredible 101.00 to win this week?
