Real started their winning streak at the Club World Cup and it’s been a run during which the team has averaged an incredible four goals per game. Carlo Ancelotti’s men appeared to have been in big trouble when they fell into a 2-0 hole early on in Tuesday’s Champions League clash against Liverpool but their hot offense pushed the team to a very impressive 5-2 victory.

Led by Vinicius Junior and Karim Benzema, Real became the first visiting side ever to score five goals in a European match at Anfield. The duo also starred in the last derby and will hope to make a big impact again as Real tries to remain in the title race.

Both Vinicius Junior and Benzema scored in extra time as Real beat Atletico 3-1 in the Spanish Cup quarterfinals last month. The first league derby of the season ended in Real’s 2-1 victory.

Atletico have collected only two victories from the last 14 derbies and one was an extra-time win in the 2018 UEFA Super Cup. The games are always tight but for some reason Atletico just hasn’t had the quality to get the better of their neighbors. Will that change on Saturday?

Diego Simeone’s men have been hot as well lately, with a 1-0 defeat to Barcelona their only loss over 90 minutes of action in 10 outings since the turn of the year. The team has registered six clean sheets during the stretch and will now try to keep Real from scoring for only the fifth time since the start of 2018.

Simeone has suffered 17 defeats against Real in his managerial career and hasn’t lost more matches to any other side. With that said, his record also includes 10 victories and 11 draws, which shows that the Argentine knows how to make things difficult for Los Blancos. Atletico will aim to frustrate their neighbors right from the off, and if they can keep Vinicius Junior and Benzema quiet, they could deal another blow to Real’s title hopes.
