The ATP Tour is fast coming to a close in 2023, with just a handful of events remaining before the year end finals in Turin. With two 500-level events being played simultaneously this week, it’s a critical juncture for those still jostling to book their spots at the Nitto ATP Finals. Several of those players are in action this week at the Swiss Indoors Basel, providing some great betting opportunities.
Holger Rune is the defending champion in Basel and was in red-hot form this time last year. However, he’s been woeful in recent months and will be hard-pressed to defend his title. It’s American Sebastian Korda who leads the betting odds here in Basel, paying 6.00 to win at bookmaker bet365. Behind him, Taylor Fritz and Hubert Hurkacz are joint second favourites with a return of 7.00. From here, the odds drop off slightly, with Australian Alex de Minaur at 10.00, followed by Casper Ruud who rounds out the top five betting favourites in Basel at 12.00.
Odds for the winning quarter are slightly favouring the first quarter with both Korda and Rune present, paying 3.20. Hurkacz and de Minaur’s quarter is close behind on 3.40, before Fritz and Ruud’s quarters both sit at 4.00.

With four spots remaining up for grabs at Turin and the eighth place looking particularly available, this will be a fascinating week. We say it will be world No. 10 Fritz, currently at ninth in the race and just 145 points behind eighth placed Rune, who will make a surge to the title in Basel. Fritz has had a busy 2023, winning two titles in Atlanta and Delray Beach for an overall win-loss of 51-21 this season.
His best surface by far is the hard court, so the indoor courts of Basel will favour his game. While he took a tough loss to Diego Schwartzman recently at the ATP Masters 1000 Shanghai, prior to that he had strung together a handy quarter-final run at the US Open. His playing volume has been down over the past six weeks, giving him plenty of energy for a final push to qualify for Turin with a title run here. Back him at 7.00 for a handy return.
