Liverpool shares the top spot with Arsenal following 33 rounds of action, and the Reds will be confident of keeping pace with the Gunners after enjoying a lot of success against Everton. They have lost just one of the last 26 Premier League derbies and haven’t even conceded a single goal in the last four.

Another victory on Wednesday would give Liverpool 100 Merseyside derby wins. Everton has won 67 of the past 243 meetings, with 77 clashes ending in a draw. A season ago at the Goodison, the teams couldn’t be separated in a 0-0 draw. It marked the 12th home game in a row for Everton without a win against Liverpool, and it’s the longest winless stretch against any opposition in the Premier League for the team.

The Toffees will be desperate to end the poor home run on Wednesday, although Liverpool’s outstanding form means that Sean Dyche’s men would probably be happy with another draw.

Jürgen Klopp’s side suffered a shock loss against Crystal Palace on April 14, but they were back to their best at the weekend, winning 3-1 away against Fulham. This gave Liverpool its seventh win in 10 league outings.

The Reds have been in cruise control even without Mohamed Salah’s contributions. He’s been limited to only two goals in his last six league appearances. Everton will be happy to face an out-of-form Salah, but it should be only a matter of time before he gets back on track, and the derby does tend to bring the best out of him.

Salah scored both Liverpool goals in this season’s Anfield derby, a 2-0 win, and he now has a chance to become the first player since the legendary Dixie Dean in 1932-33 to score at least twice in both Merseyside derbies in a single league campaign. The Egyptian ace boasts five goals from his last five Premier League derbies against Everton and has netted seven times in prior 10 meetings with Everton through the years.
