Frank Lampard’s team looked in real trouble at the start of last month when the side suffered three consecutive losses and also couldn’t get any points off fellow relegation strugglers Burnley, but their impressive home form has started to steer Everton clear from the bottom three.

With only two points separating Everton from 18th-placed Leeds United, there’s still some work to be done, but the team has put itself in a very good position to survive. Everton also face Crystal Palace at home next week and will know that two good results from their upcoming games would lift all the pressure off of them ahead of next Sunday’s season finale against Arsenal.

Brentford are well clear of the relegation battle and have achieved their goal for the season although the team could still be greatly motivated by the chance to register a top-10 finish.

The Bees weren’t too far off from the relegation spots at the start of March but the addition of Christian Eriksen has changed everything.

Brentford have managed to put together a very impressive record with Eriksen starting with them winning six of eight matches and losing only once. He’s been a regular threat with his delivery in dead-ball situations and his work includes one goal and three assists in nine games.

Everton will have to keep the ball away from Eriksen as much as possible and try to limit Brentford’s set-piece opportunities. Thomas Frank’s men have shown throughout the season that they have a number of clever combinations for corners and throw-ins.

Lampard’s debut as Everton boss came in February in the FA Cup in a commanding 4-1 win over Brentford at Goodison. A similar result here would be huge for the Toffees ahead of the final week of the season. The year clearly hasn’t gone as the club wanted but a good finish would definitely lift the spirits of the supporters and that should be the aim for the team’s final three games.
