It’s a busy schedule on the grass this week as the Cinch Championships 2023 take place in London, Queens. Despite being one of two ATP 500 events commencing this Monday, the event still offers a competitive draw that will attract plenty of intrigue over the coming seven days.
One of the main talking points is how world No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz will bounce back from his Roland-Garros defeat. The Spanish prodigy was the favourite to win the tournament before being thoroughly dispatched by a dominant Novak Djokovic. Will the loss impact Alcaraz’s psyche at all ahead of Wimbledon,or can the 20-year-old bounce straight back with his first title on grass?
We break down the answer to this question and more ahead of the Cinch Championships 2023 this week, with the latest odds from bookmaker William Hill.
※ Current Odds Date & Time: June 18th, 11:00 P.M. (GMT)
It’s no surprise that Carlos Alcaraz is miles ahead in the outright betting odds at 3.25 heading into the Cinch Championships. The world No. 2 is 35-4 for the season so far, and while many have made him out to be a clay court player, he certainly has the skill-set to thrive on grass too. Behind him, Taylor Fritz pays 7.00 before Cameron Norrie, Holger Rune and Alex de Minaur are all level on 13.00.
In terms of the best bets to make on the Cinch Championships 2023, there are two paths to take here. The short one is Carlos Alcaraz. Plain and simple, the 20-year-old is a force of nature—he very rarely loses, has an excellent mindset, and will likely bounce back from his Roland-Garros loss even stronger rather than have that impact his performance.
However, those interested in a higher return bet could look to wager on Andy Murray, Frances Tiafoe or Ben Shelton. Murray skipped Roland-Garros to focus on his grass court season and has since picked up two Challenger titles. The veteran is showing remarkable dedication and focus and could well win here in Queens for the sixth time this weekend for a return of 15.00.
Another in-form player is Frances Tiafoe, who also pays 15.00. Big Foe collected his third career title over the weekend in defeating Jan-Lennard Struff in an epic Stuttgart final. The American has cracked the top 10 for the first time and is playing confident tennis. He’ll have to contend with a fellow countryman, however, with Ben Shelton heading into grass court tennis carrying some expectation this time given his power game and excellent serving. The youngster pays 41.00 to win at Queens and could be a dark horse bet for the brave punter.
