The Copa Libertadores group stage wraps up this week and things are heading toward a very intriguing finish in Group B as three teams have a chance to grab the top spot. Internacional and Independiente Medellin meet up in Brazil to decide one of the teams that makes it through to the next round.
Bookmaker 10bet offers odds at 1.66 for Internacional to score in the first half and at 3.10 for Independiente Medellin to get a goal inside the first 45 minutes.
※ Current Odds Date & Time: June 27th, 8:00 P.M. (EST)
Independiente Medellin tops the group ahead of the final round of fixtures with 10 points, Internacional comes right behind with nine points and Nacional is sitting on eight points. Considering the latter takes on point-less Metropolitanos, it’s likely that at least 11 points will be required to challenge for the group victory, and Internacional probably has to win on Wednesday to get through.
Internacional has been the group favorite but the team’s play has been quite careless throughout the season. The Porto Alegre club boasts an unbeaten record through five games, but there has been only two wins and the situation would be a lot more comfortable for the team ahead of the final round if they could’ve closed out a couple of games better. Nacional grabbed late equalizers in both meetings with Internacional.
Former Brazil boss Mano Menezes also won’t be happy with how his team started the campaign with a 1-1 draw in Medellin. If it wasn’t for Alan Patrick’s 86th-minute goal, things could look rather bleak right now for the two-time Libertadores champion.
Will the former Shakhtar Donetsk man jump to the rescue again at the Beira-Rio? Having scored three goals and sitting on one assist through five games, Alan Patrick has clearly enjoyed his Copa Libertadores outings in 2023.
Independiente Medellin has heavily relied on Luciano Pons during its Copa Libertadores campaign and will hope to see him make a significant impact again. The Argentine forward has registered three goal involvements in the last four Libertadores games, and he’s on four goals and three assists in total in the competition if you include qualifiers.
The six-time Columbian champion needs only a point to qualify for the next round but Wednesday’s match also provides the team with a chance to make history – Independiente Medellin has previously won only one match on Brazilian soil in the Copa Libertadores.
