It’s a way away until we know who will finish top of the league, but right now bookmaker William Hill has Luke Humphries as the man to beat on 3.00. Surprisingly, young Luke Littler comes in as the second favourite, returning 4.00. Third favourite is the seven-time champion Michael van Gerwen on 4.50, before the odds drop off to Gerwyn Price and Michael Smith at 7.00 and 10.00 respectively.
In a slightly harsher betting market, William Hill also offers odds for which player is most likely to finish bottom this season. Peter Wright leads this market at 1.61, well ahead of Nathan Aspinall on 3.50 and Rob Cross at 10.00.

Looking at these outright betting odds, it’s hard to get away from a bet on Michael van Gerwen here. Sure, Luke Littler and Luke Humphries have been getting great results recently, but those are one-off events. With Premier League Darts, players need to show up time in, time out and produce their best over the course of months, not just a weekend.

While van Gerwen is by no means in bad form—he just won the Dutch Darts Masters—expect his true class to rise to the top over the course of these 17 evenings. The length of the competition is a great leveller, and van Gerwen’s level should be the highest between now and May.
