Fans around the world are amped for tonight as UFC returns to the octagon!
UFC 249 is a stacked card, headlined by Tony Ferguson vs. Justin Gaethje for the Interim Lightweight Title.
Justin ‘The Highlight’ Gaethje enters the octagon tonight having won his last three fights. However, many are wondering if he is ready to face a competitor as fierce as Ferguson.
※ Current Odds Date & Time: May 9th, 1:30 P.M. (EST)
Online bookmaker William Hill has Ferguson at -210 to win the Bout.
Gaethje lost two straight bouts to Eddie Alvarez and Dustin Poirier. He was heavily outstruck in those bouts and it doesn’t bode well for tonight against the powerful Ferguson.
Tony ‘El Cucuy’ Ferguson is an animal in the cage and it’s no surprise he is the favorite entering tonight. What makes Ferguson stand out is his reach advantage over Gaethje.
Ferguson has a 76.5-inch reach, compared to Gaethje’s 70-inch reach. That is enough distance for Ferguson to stay out of reach but also be able to strike at a moment’s notice.
Gaethje is known for throwing haymakers. He currently lands 8.5 strikes per minute, compared to Ferguson’s 5.51. With that being said, Ferguson absorbs 3.55 strikes per minute, while Gaethje absorbs 10.23.
Both men are not known for their grappling ability, so expect these men to stay on their feet. Both men’s takedown defense is easily above average, so shooting for submissions or takedowns won’t be the play tonight.
Tonight is a proving ground for both competitors. Ferguson is looking to continue his dominance in the UFC, while Gaethje is looking to prove he can beat one o the UFC’s best.
The return of the UFC should be fun and is headlined by a crazy bout!
