New York and Philadelphia Fight for Top Spot in NFC East

NFL Week 6 PFF ReFocused: New York Giants 20, Washington Football Team 19 | NFL News, Rankings and Statistics | PFF

It’s been an abysmal start for both the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants, but the good news is that both teams are on the cusp of being the NFC East leader.

Yes, despite the Giants being 1-5 and the Eagles 1-4-1, both are just one game back of the Dallas Cowboys (2-4) for first in the division.

The Giants own one of the worst offenses in the league, currently scoring 16.8 points per game. That is good (or bad) enough for 31st in the NFL. New York’s defense has held up as they are ranked 16th in the NFL.

Looking at the Eagles, they are mediocre in both offense and defense but are far from worst in the NFL. Philadelphia is ranked 22nd in offense (23.5 ppg) and 23rd in defense (29.2 ppg).

Injuries will hurt the Eagles on the scoreboard tonight. Zach Ertz, Alshon Jeffery and Miles Sanders were all listed as OUT, so that will greatly impact Philly’s scoring.

Darius Slayton was limited this week but signs point to him suiting up for tonight’s game.

Thursday Night Football picks: Giants vs Eagles

New York has shown up against poor teams, which leads me to believe they can take this victory. against the Bears, Rams and Washington Football team, the Giants didn’t allow more than 19 points. Their issue is scoring as the Giants have totaled 21 or more points once this season (against the Cowboys).

New York will need to see a breakout performance to win this game, as their offense has immensely struggled. With the Eagles, they can only hope they stay healthy enough throughout the game and potentially kick a last-minute field goal, as I expect this contest to be tight right until the end.
