The Suns are enjoying a very impressive campaign and are set to end a 10-year playoff drought, and they might even enter the postseason as the top seed in the West if they keep up their recent form.
Monty Williams’ team hasn’t lost back-to-back games since the end of January and has gone 33-8 across the last 41 games to force their way into title talks.
Devin Booker and Chris Paul have formed one of the best backcourt duos in the league and center Deandre Ayton keeps it simple but productive night in, night out.
The team is ranked fifth in defensive efficiency and boasts the sixth-most efficient offense. The league-leading Utah Jazz are the only other team sitting in the top-six in both categories.
Utah holds a slight 1.5 game advantage over the Suns at the top of the Conference, so the two are locked in a fierce battle for the highest seed. With Donovan Mitchell currently out with an injury for the Jazz, Williams’ side has to take advantage of the opportunity.
Philly has been setting the pace in the East all year. Joel Embiid is having an MVP caliber season and Tobias Harris has looked much more comfortable on the team in his third year in Philadelphia. Ben Simmons still can’t shoot the basketball, but the trio has found a way to co-exist as a team.
Head coach Doc Rivers is a proven winner, and he’s got a nice set of tools available to him to make a deep playoff run, which would be great to see considering what the Sixers fans have been forced to live through during the team’s rebuilding era.
Philadelphia’s offense tends to be stagnant at times, but the defense has pulled them through tough times on multiple occasions during the season and it makes them a very difficult opponent for any team. Although beating the Suns has been a problem in recent years with Phoenix winning three straight contests between the two.
