England will put their perfect World Cup qualifiers record to a test on Wednesday against Robert Lewandowski and Poland.
The Bayern Munich star has so far scored in every game this season and bookmaker William Hill has the odds at 2.62 for him to keep producing in front of the net.

Lewandowski bagged a brace in his last outing against San Marino taking his tally to 10 goals for the season. He now sits on 72 international goals, which makes him the fourth-most prolific goalscorer ever in Europe. Only Cristiano Ronaldo (111), Ferenc Puskas (84) and Sandor Kocsis (75) have managed more.
The veteran scorer has been carrying the team on his back with Paulo Sousa’s reign in charge off to a shaky start. He’s delivered only three wins for Poland in 10 games since taking over the side back in January.
One of Sousa’s first games in charge was a trip to Wembley to face England, which the Three Lions won 2-1. However, Lewandowski was unavailable for the clash due to an injury and he should be eager to show what the Poles were missing in March.
England are chasing history in the clash. Sunday’s 4-0 win over Andorra marked the team’s 11th clean sheet of 2021 and it ties their all-time record for a calendar year. The 1966 World Cup-winning squad also managed to produce 11 shutouts in 12 months.
Wednesday’s matchup will be England’s 15th outing of the year, so they have picked up clean sheets at an incredible rate. Keeping Lewandowski and Poland at bay will be a difficult task, but Gareth Southgate’s team will still have four more matches this year to break the record.
England’s scoring record is outstanding as well especially thanks to Harry Kane. The Tottenham star scored his 40th international goal on Sunday and he’s now just 13 short of matching Wayne Rooney’s all-time record. He’s put in spectacular work in various qualifiers scoring in 14 consecutive outings.
Raheem Sterling has been another huge performer for England in recent years with 11 goal involvements in his last 13 qualifying games. The Manchester City winger was rested on Sunday and should be very sharp in Warsaw.
England’s only previous loss against Poland came in an away fixture in 1973. They have picked up 12 wins from 20 meetings in the matchup but the road outings haven’t given them much joy with five of the eight clashes ending in draws.
