Haaland missed a month and a half with an injury and hasn’t been back to his best yet since returning although it must be noted that he’s come off the bench twice in the three league appearances he’s made since his comeback.

The 21-year-old has been in incredible form when healthy this season bagging 23 goals in 23 games across all competitions. He’s had six multi-goal games in just 17 Bundesliga outings and Leipzig knows all about what he’s capable of doing.

Haaland scored twice when Dortmund beat the Red Bulls 4-1 in the German Cup final last season and he’s managed a total of six goals in just three games against Leipzig.

Dortmund desperately need Haaland back firing again if they want to catch up with Bayern Munich. There are six points separating the two and the title race is still wide open with a head-to-head fixture also on the horizon.

Leipzig are chasing down the third spot. The team had a miserable start to the campaign under Jesse Marsch, but Domenico Tedesco has managed to turn their season around and the confidence should be sky-high following a run of just one defeat in 10 league outings.

The visitors should also get some encouragement from this season’s first clash with Dortmund that they won 2-1 in November. Leipzig had gone eight games without a win in the match-up before Christopher Nkunku and Yussuf Poulsen delivered the three points in the reverse fixture.

Dortmund will have to pay very close attention to Nkunku again. The Frenchman has hit a completely different gear over the last few months recording eight goals and four assists in 10 league appearances in 2022.

Nkunku has boosted his tally for the season to 26 goals and 15 assists across all competitions and in current form, he looks just as dangerous as Haaland. His performances will be vitally important over the final stretch of the season as Leipzig tries to hang on to a Champions League spot.
